  • 1968

    We were born in 1968 in Elche, but not just like that, out of nowhere. We were born because José García Torres, Pepito to his friends, decided at 19 that making children's shoes was a good idea.

    Then his brothers Tani, Vicente and Pedro joined in. Garvalín lands with one goal: for shoes to rule the world! (evil laugh) ← Just kidding.

    To offer quality footwear that goes along with the emotional development of boys and girls, through creativity.

  • 1980

    We grew. A lot.

    In the way children grow when you buy them trousers in September and by November they already look like they're wearing capris. Garvalín began to get big, to leave home, to reach more shops, more families, more feet.

    Small feet. Fast feet. Feet that didn't yet know how to tie their laces but were already crystal clear about which way they wanted to run. And us behind them. Making shoes as if someone had shouted: to the park! And of course. We went.

  • 1996

    One day we looked at a child's foot and thought: this is far more complicated than it looks.

    So we approached the Biomechanics Institute of Valencia to study from biomechanical science how children's feet grow, move and change. Yes. Studying feet. Measuring feet. Scanning feet. Thinking about feet the way you think about maps, planets or secret instructions for getting to break time.

    Because before making a shoe that goes along well, you have to really understand what it's going along with. And it turns out a small foot has an awful lot to say. Even though it doesn't talk. And from here a new little brother was born, our Biomecanics brand, which today leads the baby footwear market.

  • 2001

    Agatha Ruíz de la Prada + Garvalín = BFF.

    We kicked off a collaboration with designer Agatha Ruíz de la Prada to develop her children's footwear line hand in hand. She's a very good friend and also very fun and colourful.

    Strength in unity, and that strength makes some seriously fun shoes with lots of hearts and colours.

  • 2015

    We launched ourselves into the digital world and opened our online shop. Click, light-up trainer into the basket. Click, the fluffy boots too. Click, pay for it all and straight home.

    What's more, the second generation of Garvalín takes the reins of running and managing the group. And in the end it turns out shoes really do rule the world! Our brands are present in hundreds of multi-brand shops in Spain and beyond.

  • 2018

    We turned 50. FIFTY.

    Which is quick to say, but try counting to 50, before you reach 23 a dinosaur has appeared, a bitten biscuit and someone asking if there's much longer to go. So we decided to celebrate it the way important things are celebrated: at a theme park. Because half a century of making shoes deserved more than a cake. It deserved roller coasters, odd photos, kids running, adults pretending they weren't excited.

  • 2024

    We launched Unscripted.

    A collection designed by children. Not "inspired by children". Not "made for children". Designed by children. Which is very different. We brought together seven children, a Garvalín footwear designer and a children's education expert, and gave them a fairly serious mission: imagine trainers without asking the adults too much. The collection could also be seen in 3D by scanning a Garvalín box, because if a shoe is born from a child's imagination, it's only normal for it to then appear floating in augmented reality. Totally normal. We won a Lluna 2024 award and a Laus 2025.

  • 2026

    Garvalín changes its skin, its logo, its colours, its voice and its way of being in the world.

    But it doesn't change its place. We're still in the same place as always: childhood. Only now we look at it better. With more of an urge to understand that very odd moment when a child can be building their identity while putting a sock on inside out, asking why the sky doesn't fall and deciding that today they're dressed as someone who runs very fast.

    We call this new stage Just kidding. Because it looks like a joke. But it isn't. It's our way of saying that playing is serious, that creativity educates too, that getting dressed can also be self-expression and that a pair of shoes can go along with something far bigger than a foot.
